VIDEO: Carlos Santana blasts HR in first at-bat as leadoff man

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona tried something new in Friday's game agaisnt the Detroit Tigers.

With an eye to change things up and take advantage of Carlos Santana's high walk numbers, Terry Francona placed Santana in the leadoff spot for Friday's game vs. the Tigers. Usually, Santana bats somewhere in the middle of the lineup where he can drive in runs but because of a slow start to the season and his high on-base percentage, Francona wanted to try putting Santana in the leadoff spot and see how it went.

The experiment didn't take long as Santana blasted a home run to right field off of Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander in his first at-bat of the game.

Then in his second at-bat Santana just narrowly missed his second home run of the game with a shot off the left field wall settling for his third double of the season.

We might be seeing Santana in the leadoff spot again if he keeps hitting this way.
