UCLA hires ex-Jets assistant Sal Alosi

LOS ANGELES -- Sal Alosi, the former New York Jets assistant
coach who resigned last year after tripping an opposing player on the
sideline, has been hired by UCLA as its strength and conditioning
coordinator.

Bruins coach Jim Mora announced the
hiring Monday of Alosi, who had worked at Bryant University since
August, for the newly created position. Alosi was a member of Mora's
staff with the Atlanta Falcons in 2006.

Alosi was initially docked without pay
and fined $25,000 by the Jets for sticking out his knee to trip Miami's
Nolan Carroll during a game on Dec. 12, 2010. He was suspended
indefinitely by the team a few days later after acknowledging he ordered
players to form a wall along the sideline, and resigned less than two
months later.
