UC awaiting approval for Fifth Third renovation

The University of Cincinnati is currently renovating their football home, Nippert Stadium, and they would also like update their basketball home, Fifth Third Arena.

According to Cincinnati.com, UC AD Mike Bohn said Friday that despite some reports of the project being approved, the renovations have yet to be approved by the Board of Trustees.

In a statement released by the school, Bohn said the following...

"We are excited about the impressive concepts and progress surrounding Fifth Third Arena, but no approvals have been granted by the Board of Trustees about a potential renovation Our extensive process includes identifying resources from our passionate supporters and partners. We look forward to working with our colleagues on campus to provide a first-class, privately-funded facility that all Bearcats can be proud of. We will share additional project details as we know more."

The proposal is projected to reduce seating capacity from 13,176 to 10,000, widen concources, improve restroom and concession access, and reduce dead space in an effort to create a more intimate atmosphere according to the article.

Bohn told Cincinnati.com in August that the project would cost between $40-$70 million dollars.
