UA volleyball can't keep up with No. 6 USC

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Samantha Bricio recorded a double-double with 18 kills and 10 digs to lead No. 6 USC to a 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 20-25, 23-25) victory over Arizona on Sunday afternoon at McKale Center.
 
USC setter Hayley Crone also finished with a double-double by dishing out a match-high 44 assists to go along with 10 digs. Sara Shaw had 12 kills, while Natalie Hagglund finished with a team-high 19 digs.
 
USC (22-4, 10-4 Pac-12) hit .270 for the match while holding the Wildcats to .169 hitting. Each team had 55 kills, but Arizona (13-12, 5-9 Pac-12) was hurt by 30 attack errors, compared to just 17 for the Trojans.
 
Arizona was led by Madi Kingdon, who recorded her 10th double-double of the year. Kingdon tied for match-high honors with 18 kills and also tied for a match-high in digs with 19. Shaquillah Torres had 11 kills on .333 hitting for the match. Lauren Fuller and Chanel Brown combined to dish out 45 assists. Fuller had 25 assists and six digs, while Brown recorded 20 assists, five digs and a match-high four service aces. Meanwhile, Ronni Lewis and Taylor Arizobal each finished with 15 digs.
 
The Wildcats jumped out to a quick 15-10 lead in the opening set. USC went on a 10-5 run to tie the score at 20-20. After each team battled to a 21-21 tie, the Trojans went on a 4-1 run to close out the set. USC out-hit Arizona, .211 to .061 in the set.
 
The start of the second set was back and forth with each team owning a lead early on. Then, with USC in front 11-9, Arizona won four straight points to regain the lead at 13-11. USC managed to pull within one on several occasions, but the Trojans could never tie the score. Arizona went on to win the set, 25-23. The Wildcats won the set despite being out-hit .316 to .205.
 
USC reeled off five straight points to open the third set; however, Arizona battled back to take a 9-8 lead. Later in the set with the score tied 14-14, USC went on a 3-0 run to pull ahead 17-14. The Wildcats pulled to within two at 22-20 late in the set, but USC held on for a 25-20 win.
 
The Trojans opened the fourth set by taking a commanding 15-8 lead. The Wildcats battled back to tie the score at 22-22, forcing the Trojans to call a timeout. After the timeout, USC won three of the next four points to take the set, 25-23 and clinch the ma
