Tyler Lockhart named CEO of Advocates for Athletic Equality

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Former NCAA executive Tyler Lockhart has been named CEO of Advocates for Athletic Equity.

The group was formed last year as part of a restructuring of the Black Coaches & Administrators.

Lockhart played on Georgetown's 1984 national championship team and was a member of the Hoyas' national runner-up team the following season. He also has been director of basketball operations at George Washington, an assistant men's basketball coach at Texas A&M-Kingsville, with the U.S. Olympic Committee and as USA Boxing's executive director in 2005.

At the NCAA, Lockhart helped provide day-to-day management for championship sports and was a liaison to various committees.

The AAE says it hopes to open more doors for all coaches of color. The organization will be based in Indianapolis.
