Twins reinstate IF Escobar, option Polanco to Triple-A

The Minnesota Twins on Monday reinstated infielder Eduardo Escobar from the 15-day disabled list and optioned infielder Jorge Polanco to Triple-A Rochester.

The 27-year-old Escobar missed 14 games with a left-groin strain, an injury he sustained May 6 against the Chicago White Sox. He played in three rehab-assignment games at Single-A Fort Myers this past week, going 4 for 11 with a double and a triple.

Escobar was batting .237 (23 for 97) with five doubles, six RBI, zero homers and six runs in 27 games before the injury. He's a career .256 hitter in the major leagues and hit 12 home runs in 2015.

Polanco, 22, was in his third stint this season with the Twins, having been called up twice in April. He's 6 for 26 (.231) in 13 games for Minnesota this season and hit his first major-league home run May 15 at Cleveland.

Minnesota is scheduled to face the Kansas City Royals tonight, with Twins Live Pregame beginning at 6:30 p.m. on FOX Sports North.
