Twins recall Herrmann and Achter, option Duffey to Triple-A
The Minnesota Twins have recalled catcher Chris Herrmann and pitcher A.J. Achter from Triple-A Rochester, while optioning pitcher Tyler Duffey to Triple-A and designating catcher Eric Fryer for assignment.
The team announced the moves Thursday night.
Herrmann, who was on the Twins' Opening Day roster, played in 25 games before being sent down to Rochester on July 17. The 27-year-old hit .156 with one home run and eight RBI with Minnesota.
Achter, a 27-year-old right-hander, made 40 appearances for the Red Wings and had a 4-2 record with a 2.82 ERA and 14 saves. He made his major-league debut last year with the Twins, appearing in seven games.
In addition, outfielder Byron Buxton is expected to report to Rochester on Friday to begin his rehab assignment after the Twins placed him on the disabled list June 26 with a sprained left thumb.
