Twins add eight players to fill 40-man roster

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Twins added eight players to their major league roster, meaning the team now has filled all 40 spots on the 40-man roster.
Among the biggest names added to the major league roster are outfielder Aaron Hicks and right-hander Kyle Gibson. Hicks was the Twins' first-round pick (14th overall) in the 2008 draft. He spent the 2012 season with Double-A New Britain and hit .286 with 61 RBI and 13 home runs in 129 games.
Gibson, Minnesota's first-round pick in 2009, missed almost all of the 2012 season after having Tommy John surgery on his right elbow late in 2011. He appeared in just two games with Triple-A Rochester in 2012 and allowed seven runs in 6 2/3 innings. Gibson recently pitched in the Arizona Fall League, going 3-2 with a 5.40 ERA in six starts for the Peoria Javelinas.
The other six players added to the Twins' 40-man roster are right-handed pitchers B.J. Hermsen, Michael Tonkin and Tim Wood, left-hander Caleb Thielbar, catcher Josmil Pinto and infielder Danny Santana.
