Twins ace Ervin Santana going for 6th complete game

The Minnesota Twins may have dealt away their closer at the trade deadline, but when starting pitcher Ervin Santana is on the mound, they don't always need one.

The Twins' ace pitched his fifth complete game of the season in his last appearance, allowing two runs on four hits in a win over the San Diego Padres.

No other player has more than three.

No other team has more than four, and only 10 other teams have more than one. The Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox, Oakland A's, Philadelphia Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays have none at all.

He's the first pitcher with at least five complete games through 22 starts since Clayton Kershaw had six such games in 2014.

Santana will also have a bit of recent history on his side Monday when the Twins take on the Milwaukee Brewers at Target Field.

The Twins are 13-8 against the Brewers at home since 2009, their best record against a single opponent over that span.
