Trent Richardson benched by Colts
The Colts will bench running back Trent Richardson, demoting him to the second-string back with a reduced workload, according to Mike Silver of NFL Network.
Richardson, who has failed to make an impact in nine games with his new team, will be benched in favor of Donald Brown.
Richardson has rushed 103 times for 287 yards and two touchdowns in nine games with the Colts. He is averaging 2.8 yards per carry, and his highest rushing total this season was 60 yards on 20 carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4. Brown has rushed for 324 yards and three touchdowns off the bench this season.
The No. 3 overall pick of the 2012 draft was acquired by the Colts from
the Browns in September in exchange for a 2014 first-round draft pick.
