Trent Green's son T.J. is planning on being a B1G QB -- at Northwestern
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Trent Green's son will soon share a line on the resume with his old man: Big Ten quarterback.
T.J. Green, who won Gatorade Player of the Year and USA Today Offensive Player of the Year honors in Missouri last fall as a senior signal-caller at Rockhurst High School, has committed to walk on at Northwestern:
Happy to announce that I have decided to play football at Northwestern! Looking forward to the next 4 years! #B1GCats

Green -- son of former Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams quarterback Trent, who played collegiately at Indiana -- threw for 2,638 yards and 33 touchdowns his senior season, piloting the Hawklets to a 12-2 record and the MSHSAA Class 6 Championship game in St. Louis.
A pro-style passer listed at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, Green's comfort in the pocket improved significantly from his junior to senior seasons at Rockhurst. Hawklets coach Tony Severino, whose acolytes include former Illinois quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase, sees the younger Green as a classic late bloomer who may, in fact, still be growing -- the signal-caller doesn't turn 18 until August.
"Great choice for T.J.," Severino told FOXSportsKansasCity.com. "It was always No. 1 on his list because of the fit both athletically and academically."
The younger Green carries a 4.21 weighted GPA at Rockhurst, Severino said, and had declined a scholarship offer from Football Championship Subdivision power North Dakota State because he was looking for a landing spot with a more esteemed academic profile. The quarterback had also been considering preferred walk-on opportunities at Stanford, Nebraska and Wake Forest before casting his lot with the Wildcats.
"He will do well there," Severino said, "and Northwestern is getting a steal."
