Travis Hafner joins Notre Dame College coaching staff
Former Indians slugger Travis Hafner has joined the Notre Dame College baseball staff, according to the NDC website:
"Travis Hafner will join the NDC coaching staff, Head Coach Len Barker announced Wednesday. While he will focus on working with NDC hitters, he will help out in all areas."
Hafner played 12 seasons in the big leagues with three different teams. He began his major league career with the Texas Rangers, before being traded to the Indians, where he played the next 10 years, and last season, he played with the New York Yankees. He has a lifetime batting average of .273, with 213 homeruns and 731 RBI.
'We're very excited to have Travis on board," said Barker. "He'll be a big part of what we're trying to do here, and that's win a conference championship.'"
The Falcons will open the 2014 season on Saturday, Feb. 22, against King College in Bristol, Tennessee.
