Tough break for Florida State

Coming into its basketball game against Virginia on Saturday, Florida State was working its way to a possible third straight NCAA tournament appearance for the first time in school history. The Seminoles held on at home for a 63-56 victory, but it was at a high cost.

Junior Chris Singleton, Florida State's leading scorer and the reigning Atlantic Coast Conference defensive player of the year, suffered a fractured right foot midway through the first half. He is scheduled for surgery on Monday and is possibly lost for the remainder of the season.

An initial glance into how much this injury would influence the Seminoles was encouraging. They went on a 19-4 run to end the first half on Saturday after Singleton left the game. It was the second half, however, that may have told a more meaningful story.
