Tomas returns, Ray finishes in bullpen after ejection

Yasmany Tomas played for the first time in three weeks and David Peralta homered but the Diamondbacks fell to the Indians 6-5 Sunday after Robbie Ray was hit hard early before he was ejected.

Tomas doubled in the third inning, his first hit this spring. He was 0 for 17 before he injured his oblique March 6. The D-backs expect Tomas to be ready for Opening Day April 2.

As for Ray, he gave up a pair of first-inning home runs to Michael Brantley and Chris Colabello as part of a five-run inning. He was ejected after he was called out on strikes while batting in the fifth.

He got to his allotted pitch count for the day in the bullpen.
