Tigers' Price talks All-Star Game, using social media during games, more

Tigers pitcher David Price joined the newest edition of "The Buzz with Jimmy Traina" to talk about a wide range of issues.

Here are some highlights from the interview:

On the All-Star Game:

"If it's for the fans, I don't think it should determine homefield advantage for the World Series."

On Royals fans dominating the All-Star voting:

"For an All-Star game, that's not what you want. If it didn't determine homefield advantage for the World Series or if guys didn't have All-Star game clauses in their contract ... whatever it is, those are the guys that deserve to be at the All-Star Game. For me, the All-Star Game is especially important for a young guy coming up or a guy that's never been. That first All-Star Game is extremely important. You don't want to see guys having career seasons and not get selected to be an All-Star. Like Jason Kipins, he's leading the American League in hitting, and I don't know if he's an All-Star right now. That can't happen."

Making All-Star team:

"For me being a pitcher, to make an All-Star team is very important. It doesn't have to do with a fan vote or anything like that. The ones that vote you in for an All-Star game are either your teammates or the guys you're competing against every five days. So to get that vote from those guys means a lot."

On Pablo Sandoval getting benched for liking Instagram pictures during a game:

"I had no problem with what Pablo Sandoval did other than liking the photos because that lets everyone else on social media know what he's doing. If he wanted to go up and check his Instagram or check his Twitter, I get it completely, but obviously you can't send a tweet out or like anything because that's the rule from Major League Baseball. You can't tweet 30 minutes before the game starts and, obviously, during the game you're not allowed to do that, but they don't say that you can't check it. You can't let everybody else know that you are checking it or liking stuff or sending out tweets."

On how many pairs of sneakers he has:

"I'm a Vanderbilt guy and I don't even know if I can count that high to be honest. I would say I got probably 30 or 40 pairs of Jordans that I haven't even opened the boxes yet and seen what I have. That right there I will let you know how many pairs of shoes I have."

Price also reveals his all-time favorite sneaker, explains what a "perfect sit" is and talks about his popular dog, Astro.
