Tigers option Farmer, plan to recall Mercedes
DETROIT -- The Tigers' revolving door in the bullpen is turning once again.
After the game, the Tigers optioned starter Buck Farmer down to Triple-A Toledo.
Farmer did not get a decision after allowing four runs on six hits while walking one and striking out four in five innings in his major-league debut.
In 20 starts with Single-A West Michigan (18 starts) and Double-A Erie (2 starts), Farmer was 11-5 with a 2.65 ERA.
Before tomorrow's day game, the Tigers plan to recall the contract of right-handed reliever Melvin Mercedes from Toledo.
In 41 games, Mercedes is 0-2 with a 4.33 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and three saves.
In 52 innings, Mercedes has allowed 55 hits with 14 walks and 27 strikeouts.
