Tigers' Dotel goes on disabled list

The Tigers placed reliever Octavio Dotel on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday, retroactive to June 3, with right elbow inflammation.

Luke Putkonen has been called up from Triple-A Toledo to replace him on the active roster.

Dotel's elbow woes started during his last outing, against the Yankees on June 2. Tests thus far have shown no structural damage.

Dotel is 1-2 with a 4.42 ERA in 21 appearances for the Tigers this season.

This will be Putkonen's second stint in Detroit. He's 0-2 with a 8.59 ERA and a 6:5 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 7 1/3 innings pitched.

Putkonen is 2-2 with a 3.32 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 11 appearances with Toledo.
