Three Takeaways from the Blue Jackets loss to Washington

One: The good from this game was the Blue Jackets forecheck and winning faceoffs. They were relentless going after the puck through all three periods, creating turnovers and chances. They are slowly beginning to play a more complete game each time, and the forecheck is a big part of how they can win games. Starting with the puck is a whole lot easier than having to after it and win it back, and Columbus did well in this tonight.
Two: The bad from this game is defensive breakdowns towards the end of the game. They had the lead, yet still allowed Washington to tie the game leading to an overtime win. After the game, Brandon Dubinsky said "In crunch time with the lead, good teams find a way to lock it down and shut the door. We weren't able to do that tonight."
Three: The bad (part two) from tonight's game was that some of the players that you would expect to be putting up points on an almost nightly basis, were practically invisible. Marian Gaborik is stuck in a drought that no one expected, especially in a contract year. He needs to find a way to get his game off the schneid. The same could be said for Artem Anisimov.
