'The Jose Guy' getting his shave day before Fernandez's return

Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez can soon add a new job to his resume: barber.

With his return to the big-league mound set for Thursday afternoon at Marlins Park against the San Francisco Giants, the time has finally come for a superfan to fulfill his pledge.

When Fernandez underwent Tommy John surgery on May 16, 2014, Andres "The Jose Guy" Salgado decided to grow out his hair until the 2013 National League Rookie of the Year and All-Star came back to the Marlins.

Fernandez will take part in shaving Salgado's head a day early on the field at Marlins Park, and so can you.

The Marlins Foundation created a charity auction allowing fans to bid on the opportunity to assist Fernandez in shaving Salgado's head and beard. It will also include a photo opportunity with Fernandez, four passes to batting practice and four Ricoh Diamond Club tickets. All proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida. Bids will go through Tuesday at marlins.com/auctions.
