AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Texas quarterback Jerrod Heard, who is in a three-way competition for the starting job, injured a shoulder in spring practice.
The school said Wednesday that the injury happened Tuesday and that Heard was being evaluated, but released no other details.
Heard, a sophomore, is competing with senior Tyrone Swoopes and freshman Shane Buechele for the starting job next season in new coordinator Sterlin Gilbert's offense.
Heard started 10 games in 2015, passing for 1,214 yards and five touchdowns, and rushing for 556 yards and three scores for the Longhorns.
