TCU coach confronted by Baylor player after game

WACO, Texas - It wouldn't be a TCU-Baylor football game these days without a little controversy.

Last year TCU head coach Gary Patterson let everyone know he didn't appreciate a hit Baylor's Ahmad Dixon made in Baylor's 41-38 win in Fort Worth.

After Saturday's 61-58 loss Patterson had a problem with another Baylor player. When Patterson walked to midfield for the postgame headshake, he said he was confronted by a Baylor player who had to be restrained by Baylor defensive coordinator Phil Bennett.

"To be honest with you I had a player come and threaten me on the field after the ballgame for the same situation," Patterson said.

Bennett told an ESPN reporter that a player mouthed off to Patterson but didn't threaten him.

Patterson said he was moving on from the incidents and talked with Briles about last year's dustup before Saturday's game.

"I apologized for the situation that happened a year ago," Patterson said. "I always call it how I see it, good or bad. I wanted to make sure I waited a year until I got here at this point, wasn't in the heat of the battle, made sure I told him before the game how I felt about the whole situation."
