Tapper the latest Sooner to earn Big 12 honor

Senior defensive lineman Charles Tapper was named the Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Week after Oklahoma beat Kansas 62-7 Saturday.

Tapper and Oklahoma State's Emmanuel Ogbah shared the award.

Tapper had three sacks and forced two fumbles and played just less than three quarters of the game.

OU and Tapper held the Jayhawks to just 216 yards of total offense and less than 1 yard per rush. OU has forced nine turnovers the past three weeks and opponents have a combined total of just 751 yards in that span.

The award is the first for Tapper. However it's the fourth time this season an Oklahoma defensive player has been honored by the Big 12. Tapper is the first defensive lineman to be honored from Oklahoma since 2011 when Ronnell Lewis won the award.
