Swimmer suspended for doping

A Russian swimmer who took part in the London Olympics has been banned from competition for doping.

A statement Saturday from the Russian anti-doping agency RUSADA says Natalya Lovtsova has been banned for 2.5 years. It did not give specifics of her violation.

Lovtsova swam on the Russian 4x100 freestyle relay team in the London Games, the R-Sport news agency said.

RUSADA also announced provisional suspensions of several other athletes after initial tests indicated the presence of banned substances in their systems. They are weightlifter Maxim Koretsky; belt wrestlers Ildara Bilyaletdinov, Alibek Akbayev, Gamlet Dzhioyev and Anastasia Proskurina; wrestler Adam Anzorov; blind powerlifter Pavel Nesterenko; and track and field competitors Dmitry Drobin, Pavel Karavayev, Valeria Kharitonova, Marina Buchelnikova, Evgenia Solovyeva and Valentin Kruglyakov.
