StaTuesday: Hundley rare Packers running QB

The tenure of Brett Hundley as starting quarterback of the Green Bay Packers has been volatile, to say the least.

Under Hundley's reign, the Packers have had some brutal home losses (30-17 to Detroit and 23-0 against Baltimore), nearly knocked off Pittsburgh on the road and have won back-to-back overtime games for the first time in franchise history.

Hundley has had two games with three interceptions and two with three touchdowns. In  his seven starts, three times Hundley has had a QB rating of better than 110, but also three times with a rating of less than 49.

There has been one consistent in Hundley's game, however -- his ability to run.

In all but one of his starts, Hundley has averaged at least 5.0 yards per rush (and the one he didn't, at Cleveland this past Sunday, he was still at a respectable 4.43). He's averaging nearly 30 yards rushing per game in those seven starts and is at 207 yards overall on the season.

This makes Hundley one of just five Packers quarterbacks ever to rush for 200+ yards in a season and the 18th time overall it has been accomplished.

Hundley hasn't just gained the yards, but his rushes have been productive. He's averaging 7.39 yards per carry, which is among the best in the NFL for players with 10+ carries and second-highest among quarterbacks, behind just injured Houston QB Deshaun Watson but ahead of players such as Dallas' Dak Prescott and Seattle's Russell Wilson.

Among all-time Packers quarterbacks, Hundley has the fourth-highest yards per carry (minimum 10 carries).

Hundley might just have another opportunity to helm Green Bay in 2017. If so, look for his legs to play a big part of his game.
