Stars draw Ducks in first round of playoffs

The Dallas Stars will face the Anaheim Ducks in their Western Conference First Round Series of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs beginning on Wednesday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

Dallas, who snapped a six-year playoff drought on Friday by blanking the St. Louis Blues 3-0 at American Airlines Center, comes into the postseason as the second wild-card team in the Western Conference, which means they will face the Ducks, who finished as the No. 1 seed in the West later this week.

Playing the Ducks means the Stars will see former longtime Dallas defenseman Stephane Robidas, who was traded to Anaheim prior to the NHL Trade Deadline for a fourth-round pick. This series is also the final chance Stars fans will get to see Ducks goal scorer Teemu Selanne, who is retiring after this season, on the ice.

Game Two will be on Friday night in Anaheim with the Stars hosting the Ducks on both Monday and Wednesday in Games Three and Four respectively. Dallas would also host Game Six on Sunday April 27 if necessary.

Dallas lost in six games to the Detroit Red Wings in the 2008 Western Conference Finals in their last playoff appearance.
