Staples Center to host 2018 NBA All-Star Game in LA

Los Angeles has been getting a lot of All-Star love as of late.

On Tuesday, the NBA announced LA and Staples Center as the host of the 2018 NBA All-Star Game and festivities.

“Los Angeles is known for first-class hospitality and entertainment, making it the perfect host for NBA All-Star,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.  “The city is home to some of the most passionate basketball fans in addition to extraordinary facilities, including Staples Center and L.A. Live.  We thank Mayor Garcetti, Clippers Owner Steve Ballmer, Lakers President and Co-Owner Jeanie Buss and AEG President and CEO Dan Beckerman for their support in bringing All-Star back to L.A.”

The NBA All-Star announcement comes almost two months after the NHL announced it would be holding the 2017 NHL All-Star Game at Staples as part of the LA Kings 50th anniversary celebrations. And it's also been reported LA could host a Super Bowl as early as 2020 now that the Rams are returning home.

The NBA All-Star Game in 2018 will be the sixth in LA and third at Staples. Staples Center last hosted in 2011. The MVP that night? Kobe Bryant.

You don't suppose Kobe would consider foregoing retirement for another chance to play an All-Star Game at home do you?

No way, right?

Right?!
