For Stanford, it's a first.
The Cardinal have been picked as the Pac-12 preseason favorites for the first time in conference history.
Stanford collected 186 points (24 first-place votes) to top the North division in the media poll released on Thursday at Pac-12 Media Days in Los Angeles.
In the Pac-12 South Division, UCLA (19 first-place votes) edged rival USC with 180 total points to the Trojans' 173.
