St. Louis reportedly will host SEC hoops tournament in 2017

ST. LOUIS -- In what could be good but belated news for the Missouri men's basketball team, the Southeastern Conference tournament reportedly is headed to St. Louis.

The 2017 men's basketball tournament will likely take place in the Scottrade Center, ESPN reported Wednesday, citing an anonymous source.

While the tournament searches for a permanent location to host the event, it will bounce around in upcoming seasons. Nashville will host in 2015, 2016 and 2019. Atlanta will host in 2014.

In between, a Tigers team that last year built a reputation for struggling on the road would get a chance to play its conference tournament in its home state.

St. Louis would become the northernmost city to host the tournament, which has been played for 80 years.
