Spurgeon placed on IR, won't join Wild on road trip
Jared Spurgeon will miss at least the upcoming road trip for the Minnesota Wild after he was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Spurgeon, third on the team in average ice time at 23 minutes, 8 seconds per game, has missed the past two games after taking a puck to the face in a game at Calgary on Feb. 18. He is listed with an upper-body injury by the team. The move is retroactive in the hopes Spurgeon will be able to return soon.
"He's doing better, but I'm not going to bring him to Nashville with us tomorrow," Minnesota head coach Mike Yeo said Tuesday.
Spurgeon has seven goals and 11 assists in 50 games this season for the Wild.
Minnesota hosts Edmonton on Tuesday night before leaving for a two-game road trip at Nashville and Colorado.
