Trailing 3-1 in the fifth, Minnesota put together three runs off a Reed RBI single and a two-run double from outfielder Jake Cave to take a 4-3 lead.
Twins infielder Ronald Torreyes added a solo shot to left field in the sixth, and after Baltimore tied things up at 6 in the seventh, Jacob Pearson’s RBI single gave the Twins a 7-6 advantage.
Baltimore notched three runs and five hits off Twins pitcher Adalberto Mejia. Reliever Ryne Harper has yet to allow a run in spring training, registering another scoreless inning in the eighth.
NATIONALS 10, TWINS 4
In his first at-bat of spring training, Twins 2018 first-round pick Trevor Larnach launched a homer to left-center field during Minnesota’s 10-4 loss to Washington on Thursday.
Larnach hit a combined five dingers last season while in 42 games in rookie ball and for Single-A Cedar Rapids.
Outfielder Eddie Rosario and catcher Mitch Garver both also went yard for the Twins.
Washington jumped all over Twins starting pitcher Martin Perez, racking up five runs on six hits in the opening four innings.
Addison Reed also gave up two runs on two hits, and Trevor Hildenberger yielded three runs over 1 2/3 innings of work.
