Sons of True Sons face off: Band-Aid's boy vs. Booker's boy
As it turns out, Mizzou basketball has March Madness relevance this year after all.
When Hampton beat Manhattan in a First Four game Tuesday night, the Pirates earned the right to play No. 1-ranked and undefeated Kentucky in second-round NCAA Tournament action Thursday -- a game that will occupy about half a second of your time to pick in your tourney bracket. But for Mizzou fans, there's something to cherish.
His father, Derrick -- you might remember him as Band-Aid, because of the adhesive strips he always wore somewhere on his body, rarely for medical reasons -- is Missouri's all-time leading scorer. The forward and 1987 All-American compiled 2,580 points from 1984-88.
So, that's Band-Aid's boy. Booker's boy would be Devin, son of Melvin, who earned All-American acclaim as the point guard for a Tigers team that won the Big Eight with a 14-0 record in 1994. He scored 1,697 points in his career, fifth on the all-time Mizzou charts.
