Snooker player fined for not sending cue to fan

SWINDON, England (AP) Talk about getting snookered.

A banned snooker player has been fined $3,050 after pleading guilty to fraud for selling a fan a cue on Facebook, but not sending it.

Stephen Lee was once the world's fifth-ranked player. He appeared before the Magistrates Court in Swindon on Monday following a police investigation prompted by a complaint by Marco Fai Pak Shek of Hong Kong.

Shek agreed to buy the cue from Lee for $2,689 but never received it. Lee must now pay back that money in addition to a $185 fine and $176 in fees.

Lee was found guilty last September of match fixing in 2008 and 2009. He received a 12-year ban from the sport. His appeal was dismissed last month.
