Ski jumper Schlierenzauer postpones comeback, misses 4 Hills

VIENNA (AP) The Austrian ski federation says ski jumper Gregor Schlierenzauer is postponing his comeback from a knee injury and will sit out the Four Hills Tour.

The two-time overall World Cup champion, who won the prestigious tour twice, was expected back at this weekend's competition in Engelberg, Switzerland. However, he is missing from the six-man squad announced Tuesday by Austria coach Heinz Kuttin.

Kuttin says ''we give Gregor the time even a top athlete like him needs after a serious injury to come back to the World Cup as well prepared as possible in 2017.''

Schlierenzauer, who has won a record 53 World Cup events, ended last season prematurely on Jan. 7 because of a persistent lack of form. He then tore his right ACL in a skiing accident in Canada two months later.
