Signs point to Westbrook rejoining Thunder soon
Well, the return of Russell Westbrook is getting closer.
The Thunder announced late Wednesday night, after the team beat Utah 97-82, that it is waiving guard Sebastian Telfair. Telfair averaged 8.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 16 games this season.
By waiving a point guard, the Thunder clearly must feel like Westbrook is ready to play. Oklahoma City is home against the Knicks on Friday.
The Thunder had an extra player on the roster, via the hardship exception which was granted because of the team's injury situation.
Kevin Durant has not played at all this year and Westbrook played one game. In addition to those, there are other injuries, but the waiving of Telfair means the Thunder are confident in the point guard situation. Reggie Jackson started at point guard Wednesday. Telfair played 13 minutes. OKC also has Ish Smith on the roster.
