Shohei Ohtani named American League Player of the Week

Whether as a pitcher or hitter, Shohei Ohtani has lit a spark for the Los Angeles Angels.

And, on Monday, the two-way Japanese star was honored for his efforts.

Ohtani was named the American League Player of the Week, the first such accolades of his MLB career.

With the bat, Ohtani slugged three home runs, including one in his first at-bat at Angel Stadium during the Home Opener on April 2.

As a pitcher in his first Angel Stadium on Sunday, Ohtani had a perfect game through seven innings and struck out 12 vs. Oakland, with his fastball hitting 100 MPH.
