Schweinsteiger focusing on Champions League

Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger says the Champions League takes priority over the Bundesliga this year.

Schweinsteiger said Monday that ''in a year when you have the ... final in Munich, one should also aim to get there. As such, the Champions League has a little more priority than the championship.''

Schweinsteiger, who has almost fully recovered from a broken collarbone, was speaking as the Bayern side flew out for a weeklong training camp in Qatar.

The Bundesliga leader is the first German club to go back to work after the Christmas break.

Bayern will play India in a friendly in New Delhi on Jan. 10, before returning to restart the Bundesliga against Borussia Moenchengladbach on Jan. 20.
