San Diego Chargers release quotes on Peyton Manning's retirement
SAN DIEGO -- After 18 years and one of the greatest careers the NFL has ever seen, quarterback Peyton Manning announced his retirement in an emotional press conference on Monday.
No stranger to Manning in the AFC, the San Diego Chargers released quotes from quarterback Philip Rivers, head coach Mike McCoy and general manager Tom Telesco.
Chargers Quarterback Philip Rivers:
"Peyton Manning will always be one of my all-time favorites. It was very special to compete against him over the years. I wish him all the best moving forward."
Chargers Head Coach Mike McCoy:
"I was very fortunate to coach Peyton Manning. He is one of the best of all time. What he has done for the NFL and the quarterback position is second to none. It was great coaching him, but there was nothing like playing against him. In our profession, you always want to play against the best, and that was Peyton. So it was special to play against him twice a year the past few seasons, and also a playoff game. The league is going to miss him. He's a special player and a special talent. The game is what it is today because of players like him."
Chargers General Manager Tom Telesco:
"It was a pleasure working with Peyton for 15 years. He's the best teammate I've ever been around and made everyone in the organization better through his talent, dedication, and passion for preparation."
