San Diego Buzz: Chargers host Broncos, Padres make announcements

Thanks to the familiar combination of Philip Rivers to Antonio Gates, the San Diego Chargers earned their first win since Week 4 last Sunday, defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-25 and now sit at 3-8 heading into Week 13. Things only get harder for the Bolts though, as the AFC West leader Denver Broncos visit San Diego on Sunday, with a revitalized offense since quarterback Brock Osweiler took over for the injured and struggling Peyton Manning.

Looking ahead to Sunday's matchup, here are six points to take before the game, alongside key matchups between the Broncos and Chargers.

On Tuesday, the San Diego Padres announced new uniforms for the 2016 season. Take a look at all they revealed in the video below.

On Wednesday, the Friars announced their coaching staff for the 2016 season, with perhaps the biggest name being Mark McGwire named as bench coach. McGwire was the Los Angeles Dodgers hitting coach the last three seasons.

Aside from new uniforms and a new coaching staff, the Padres also made a trade on Wednesday, bulking up the pitching staff and dealing first baseman Yonder Alonso. In the trade, the Padres acquired left-handed pitchers Drew Pomeranz and Jose Torres from the Oakland Athletics and a player to be named later.

Just because it's minor league hockey, doesn't mean tempers don't flare. Check out this video from the San Diego Gulls and Ontario Reign last weekend.

A local San Diegan won the CP3 Nike ID contest, designing a shoe for Chris Paul to wear in a game this season.
