Royals recall RHP Alec Mills from Omaha
The Kansas City Royals have another arm for the bullpen following the recall of pitcher Alec Mills from Triple-A Omaha.
Mills, 24, made his major league debut for the Royals on May 18, pitching two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen in a 5-2 loss to the Red Sox. Primarily a starter in the minors, Mills has pitched in 24 games (23 starts) combined between Omaha and Double-A Northwest Arkansas this season, going 5-5 with a 3.22 ERA and 122 strikeouts in 125 2/3 innings.
The right-hander was named a Texas League All-Star this season but did not pitch in the game after being promoted to Triple-A on June 16.
Mills was Kansas City's 22nd-round selection in the 2012 draft out of Tennessee-Martin.
