Roger Federer unveils Nike Wimbledon kit that sadly doesn't include blazer
Roger Federer revealed the new Nike kit he'll wear next week at Wimbledon and, as Roger Federer is wont to do, he debuted it on Vogue's website because he and Anna Wintour are like this. (You can't see me, but I'm crossing my fingers tightly and slightly shaking them.)
Sweatpants? SWEATPANTS? First of all, I always imagined that Federer went to bed in Armani and wakes up with every hair in place. I didn't know he knew what sweatpants were, other than something Novak Djokovic's father might wear. Second, sweatpants at Wimbledon? That's like showing up to high tea with the Queen in jorts and a cut-off Metallica T-shirt. Or, you know, sweatpants.
But the lack of class isn't the biggest problem with Federer's Wimbeldon kit. No, the biggest problem is that the kit does not include this:

In those pictures, Federer alternately looks like a backup dancer on Michael Jackson's HIStory tour, your grandfather, that guy at your office who wears a white sport coat and calls everyone "guy," and a butcher.
But we'll have to make do with the sweats. To be honest, Federer makes them look good. I'd walk into a Starbucks with those things and people would instantly be judging and shaming me, but The Fed looks like a boss.
Federer went to Nike headquarters to "collaborate" on the design, which meant sitting long enough in a meeting for someone to film it. The key thing, besides wearability, is that his famous "RF" logo is a little smaller. Evidently that's the new direction of fashion. What it really does is practically dares Ralph Lauren to make his enormous Polo logo on the ball kids shirts at the U.S. Open so big that they span from head to toe.
Federer was announced as the No. 3 seed at Wimbledon, where he's a seven-time champion. He's lost to Djokovic in the finals the past two years. Then again, he didn't wear sweatpants to either of those matches.
