Reports: Warriors pursuing Dwight Howard
Even though Golden State is not one of the three teams with which Orlando center Dwight Howard said he would sign a long-term contract, the Warriors have become the most aggressive suitors for Howard, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported Thursday, citing league sources.
Howard has said he would sign extensions with the Mavericks, Lakers or Nets if traded to one of those teams, but the Warriors seem willing to take Howard for one year and hope they could sign him to a long-term contract before he becomes a free agent this summer.
The Warriors apparently would part with either of their two standout guards, Stephen Curry or Monta Ellis, in a trade to get Howard, but teams will be wary of Curry, who has been bothered by ankle problems recently.
Sources told Yahoo! Sports that new Warriors owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber are determined to try whatever it takes to satisfy the Magic's needs for a trade, perhaps even putting together a three-team or four-team trade combination
