Report: Half brother of Falcons WR Roddy White shot, killed

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Falcons head coach Mike Smith offered condolences to the family of wide receiver Roddy White on Saturday following the death of White's half brother, reportedly in a shooting.

"We offer, as a Falcons family, our condolences to Roddy and his family at this very difficult time," Smith said following the second day of rookie camp.

In a statement, Falcons owner Arthur Blank also reached out to his team's receiver.

“We were all saddened to learn about the death of Roddy’s brother, Tyrone. Roddy is part of our Falcons family, and families stand together in difficult circumstances. Roddy and his family can count on our support through this very trying time," Blank said. "On behalf of the entire Falcons organization, we extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to Roddy, his mother Joenethia, and their entire family.”​

According to the Charleston (S.C.) Post and Courier newspaper, Tyrone Moore Jr., 21, died of a gunshot wound early on Saturday outside of a night club in James Island, S.C. Deputies were sent to respond to the report of a shooting shortly before 3 a.m., according to the newspaper's report that also says detectives are looking for a motive in the shooting.

Moore was pronounced dead at Medical University Hospital, the report said.

For a time, Moore had lived with White and attended high school in the Atlanta suburbs.
