Rangers waiting until Wednesday to decide on Perez
HOUSTON - Feeling discomfort after his last start Saturday against the Boston Red Sox, an MRI on Texas Rangers Martin Perez's left elbow showed inflammation, but the team is waiting until Wednesday to make a decision whether or not to place the left-hander on the disabled list.
"Well right now, our thought was to wait until Wednesday and see what more information we have and if we'll make a decision," Rangers manager Ron Washington said.
Perez will at least miss his next start and the Rangers are being force to shuffle around the rotation, as a result Nick Tepesch is scheduled to make a start Wednesday in Houston against Astros Scott Feldman with Yu Darvish being pushed back from Wednesday to Friday at home in Arlington against the Blue Jays.
"If its just for him to miss a start, we'll have to do something else, if he gets to that point where he has to go on the DL, we don't have to make that decision until Wednesday." Washington said.
Despite the uncertain outlook, Washington is remaining optimistic Perez will only be out for a short time.
"When we get back home, I hope to have my full roster back." Washington said.
