Rangers release RHP Fujikawa
Right-hander Kyuji Fujikawa, who the Texas Rangers guaranteed $1.1 million to when they signed him in the offseason, was given his unconditional release Friday.
Fujikawa is now free to sign with any team.
Fujikawa, who started the season on the disabled list, made two appearances for the Rangers before being designated for assignment Sunday. He was charged with three runs in his 1 2/3 innings of work for Texas after posting a 4.34 ERA in 11 appearances during his rehab stint.
Fujikawa was given a one year, $1 million deal from the Rangers that included a club option for the 2016 season. He suffered a strained right groin in spring training.
