Rangers option seven players to minors

The Texas Rangers trimmed their spring training roster to 49 by optioning seven players to minor-league camp Monday.

Left-hander Martin Perez and right-handers Neil Ramirez, Cody Eppley and Justin Miller were assigned to the Round Rock camp while right-handers Jake Brigham and Miguel De Los Santos were sent to the Frisco camp. Right-hander Roman Mendez was sent to the High A Myrtle Beach camp.

Perez, the organization's top pitching prospect, pitched four innings this spring in his first big-league camp. He allowed four runs on eight hits and walked five batters.

The Rangers also sent infielder Davis Stoneburner to Cleveland as the player to be named later for the Feb. 21 Kelvin De La Cruz trade. The Rangers traded De Le Cruz back to Cleveland last week for cash considerations.

Stoneburner, who was not in big-league camp, spent all of last season at Double-A Frisco.
