Quinton Flowers a one-man wrecking crew in USF's win over UConn

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Quinton Flowers passed for two touchdowns and ran for three more and South Florida had 316 yards rushing in its 42-27 win over UConn on Saturday night.

Flowers had 213 yards passing and 157 yards rushing as USF (6-1, 3-0 American Athletic Conference) scored at least 35 points for the 11th consecutive game, extending the program record. Marlon Mack added 107 yards rushing and a score on 16 carries and had six receptions for 75 yards.

Flowers scored on touchdown runs of 54 and 8 yards to help the Bulls take a 14-3 lead into halftime, but Arkeel Newsome scored on a 70-yard catch and run and a 4-yard carry just 63 seconds apart to give UConn (3-4, 1-3) a 17-14 advantage with 12:38 left in the third quarter.

But Flowers added an 8-yard touchdown run about seven minutes later and USF led the rest of the way.

Bryant Sherriffs passed for 306 yards and two touchdowns, and Noel Thomas had 12 receptions for 127 yards, to lead the Huskies.
