NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Nashville Predators have signed defenseman Ryan Parent to a two-year, $1.85 million contract.

The team announced the deal on Monday with the 23-year-old Parent, who was acquired from Philadelphia in June in exchange for Dan Hamhuis. He will make $850,000 in 2010-11 and $1 million in 2011-12.

The Predators initially picked Parent in the first round of the 2005 draft and he was sent to the Flyers in a trade that brought Peter Forsberg to Music City in 2007.

Parent played 48 regular season games for the Flyers last year, posting three points and 20 penalty minutes. He also posted a goal during the Flyers' run to the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals.
