Pistons' Frank in line for Rutgers job?
According to one report, Pistons coach Lawrence Frank could be a candidate for the Rutgers job recently vacated by Mike Rice.
Rice was fired Wednesday after the release of a video showing him abusing players over a three-year period. A story on Yahoo.com says that he and Rhode Island coach Dan Hurley are "strong candidates" to replace Rice.
Frank has never been a head coach at the college level, but does have experience as an assistant coach at Marquette and Tennessee. Frank is not considered to have much job security after a terrible season that has seen the Pistons fail to win a home game for nearly two months.
More importantly, the move would let him return to New Jersey to be with his wife, Susan. Frank left the Pistons for six games recently to be with her while she was recovering from major surgery. He has said that he would like to spend as much time as possible with her.
Frank addressed the early rumors on Wednesday.
"I'm very happy as the coach of the Pistons. I haven't been contacted by anyone and there's nothing more to say," Frank told reporters before Detroit's game in Boston.
