Petco Park to host inaugural Pedal the Cause Radio-Telethon and Spin at the Park
SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres and Pedal the Cause San Diego today announced Petco Park will host the inaugural Pedal the Cause Radio-Telethon and Spin at the Park, an on-field spin event, on Saturday, September 12, with both events benefitting local cancer research organizations.
The inaugural Pedal the Cause Radio-Telethon will take place live from the set of Padres Social Hour inside the Western Metal Supply Co. Building, beginning at 2:00 p.m. PT. Guests who will share their stories will include cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and researchers. Other well-known San Diegans and baseball personalities are also expected to take part in the radio-telethon. Members of the Padres Volunteer Team presented by Toyota will man the phones for this first-ever event, along with staff from all participating partners. Individuals who wish to contribute to Pedal the Cause will be able to donate throughout the broadcast by calling 1-844-PEDALSD (1-844-733-2573). To donate now, text "Pedal" to 41444.

Participants may be featured on FOX Sports San Diego's game broadcast, as FSSD will check in live at the radio-telethon and Spin at the Park throughout the event. Following the class, participants will be rewarded with an on-field after party.

About Pedal the Cause
Founded in 2013, Pedal the Cause San Diego is a non-profit, 501c3 cycling challenge dedicated to raising money to accelerate collaborative research synergies at Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health, Sanford-Burnham-Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, The Salk Institute for Biological Studies and Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. A unique cycling event, Pedal the Cause offers riders and supporters an opportunity to increase awareness and support for the incredible work being done to fight cancer in San Diego. One hundred percent of dollars raised by participants and donors stay in San Diego to support collaboration between PEDAL's world-class beneficiaries. Collaborations between these four complementary cancer centers create greater opportunities to fast-track research from the bench top to the bedside. For patients who can't wait, this means faster access to life-saving treatment and cures. It is our hope that research funded by Pedal the Cause will ultimately lead in a collaborative way to a cure for cancer, and propel San Diego to the forefront of cancer cures and care.
PEDAL15 will take place September 18-20, featuring courses suited for any riding ability, from 10 miles, up to a two-day ride between San Diego and Temecula.
