Palmeiro father-son combo powers Skeeters

SUGAR LAND, Texas (AP) Rafael Palmeiro teamed with son Patrick to help the Sugar Land Skeeters beat Camden 10-4 on Friday night in the Atlantic League.

Playing their first game together after the 50-year-old Rafael signed Thursday, the father-son combination went 4 for 9 with five RBIs.

Rafael went 2 for 4 as the designated hitter, driving in a run with a single in the fifth inning. The 25-year-old Patrick played third base and went 2 for 5 with four RBIs.

Rafael was a four-time All-Star in 20 seasons in the major leagues with the Chicago Cubs, Texas and Baltimore. He hit .288 with 569 homers and 1,835 RBIs, but his career was tarnished by a 10-day suspension in 2005 for a positive steroids test - after he testified at a congressional hearing that he had never taken the performance-enhancing drugs.
